photographic field surveys capturing panoramic images of the landscape and related geograph ic information from key viewpoints. Desktop related tasks include the compilation of photo graphs into a comprehensive photo inventory accompanied with descriptions and evaluations of dominant landscape components and visual design elements. Application of visual inventory standards can be applied to determine levels of scenic quality, viewer sensitivity and relationships to relevant visual resource management objec tives. Photo Composite Images Quality site photography can be combined with modelled project features to create highly realis tic images that allow for excellent comparisons between “before” and “after” scenarios. Images are dependent on carefully acquired field-based photography and this approach produces con vincing model results that resonate well with stakeholders while also being time-efficient and cost-effective.

This is a computer-based approach that models spatial data in a Geographic Information System (GIS) to determine the potential extent of visible areas from key viewpoints. Results are presented as a map, and this is useful in illustrating visually sensitive areas surrounding a proposed project. Visibility analysis can be used on its own as a ba sic visual assessment or to focus a more detailed visual assessment process. Visibility analysis is an excellent, cost-effective way to illustrate and address visual impact concerns.
