Socio-economic Impact Assessments
Traditional Knowledge We’ve conducted Traditional Land Use (TLU) and Traditional Knowledge (TK) studies for several of North America’s largest oil and gas projects. Our traditional knowledge specialists can bridge the divide that often separates communities and environmental science, through direct interaction with selected community members. This approach also aids by serving as a means for capacity building within participating communities. We will work in concert with specialists from other disciplines as well as the many First Nations groups involved in the project area to develop cooperative relationships.
Socio-economic assessments typically form a part of the project application to regulators for pipeline projects, focusing on the human environment and assessing the potential positive and negative effects of projects on individuals, communities, and regions. We combine social research with public involvement to complete these, with the objective of developing something scientifically sound but accurately reflecting the views of the affected communities and stakeholders. Our approach involves early contact with affected stakeholders and ongoing communication from preparation through completion.
