Understanding how water moves—through pipes, across landscapes and within communities—is key to building smarter, safer infrastructure. WSP’s hydraulic and hydrologic modeling services empower clients to make confident decisions about water, stormwater and wastewater systems. More than 80% of water infrastructure costs are tied to pipe networks, yet many utilities still lack a clear picture of how these systems behave. That’s where WSP comes in. Using tools like InfoWorks OCM and PCSWMM, we help asset managers act with clarity. Our hydraulic models support everything from flood mitigation and sewer overflow design to pump station hydraulics and river restoration.

Accurate modeling supports better planning and decision-making by helping teams: ■ Understand how changes in water demand, pipe flows and pressure affect performance. ■ Anticipate the impacts of climate change on water availability, quality and infrastructure. ■ Evaluate if proposed solutions will effectively address system challenges. WSP models pressurized and gravity-flow systems including water, wastewater and industrial pipelines. Our services cover pipeline design, transient analysis and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling, addressing challenges like sewer surcharges, flooding and fluid transients. A majority of our modeling work focuses on surface water systems, such as dam safety assessments, river simulations and floodplain modeling.
