SYSTEM MODELING AND ANALYSIS Stormwater modeling that goes beyond the surface.

CLIENT LOCATION

As urbanization increases, weather patterns change and infrastructure ages, stormwater systems face growing challenges with capacity, quality and prioritizing capital improvements. WSP’s water resources engineers develop stormwater models to predict the quantity and quality of runoff, determine level of service, identify vulnerabilities, evaluate system conveyance improvements and reduce runoff through infiltration and retention. Our experts develop GIS-integrated hydrologic, hydraulic and water quality models. To evaluate performance and inform land use planning, WSP models to simulate rainfall, evaporation, soil infiltration and runoff timing; these assess system risk, identify improvements and support resilient design. Depending on project needs, we use CHI PCSWMM, InfoSWMM, Infoworks ICM, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS and FLOW-3D HYDRO to deliver accurate insights.

WSP assists federal, state, municipal, industrial and utility clients with: ■ Rainfall-runoff modeling of urban and rural watersheds. ■ Hydraulic and water quality analysis of storm, sanitary and combined sewer systems. ■ Combined Sewer Overflow and Sanitary Sewer Overflow studies. ■ Urban watershed master planning. ■ System evaluations associated with USEPA's regulations including National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits and Total Maximum Daily Load. ■ Best Management Practices and Low Impact Development studies. ■ Infrastructure design. ■ Sizing detention facilities and their appurtenances for flood control and water quality protection. ■ Flood risk analysis. ■ Asset vulnerability assessments.
