Geotechnical and Materials SOQ

Our team provides clients with a comprehensive range of geotechnical services required for ground engineering projects and risk mitigation, including subsurface investigations, structure foundations, tunnels, caverns and shafts, earth retaining structures, ground improvement, slope stabilization, groundwater modeling and dewatering, deep excavations, soil and rock mechanics, numerical analyses and forensic investigations. We conduct the necessary testing associated with geotechnical investigations of the physical/mechanical properties and characteristic behaviors of surface and subsurface earth materials. WSP additionally provides solutions for sediment remediation and dredged material management projects. From harbors to river basins, lakes and wetlands, we have extensive experience working with ports, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to develop the most sustainable, cost-effective and environmentally suitable options for placement of dredged materials. We perform permitting, site screening and sediment characterization, and identify beneficial use opportunities such as marsh creation or habitat restoration.

We also offer chemical management services to help clients meet regulatory requirements and reduce liability from spills, leaks and waste materials. We currently manage a Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) program for more than 650 industrial facilities and 8,000 oil and gas facilities, which assists in efficiently obtaining facility data for evaluating both Tier II and Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting. WSP can provide the full range of geotechnical services from conceptive planning through design and construction. We have developed world-class credentials in the specialized disciplines of design and evaluation of earthen dams and levees for reservoirs and water supply, mine tailings and dredged sediment disposal, industrial process water management, and flood protection and surface water management. Our staff members include experienced engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists, scientists, and technicians with unprecedented expertise in the areas of dam design, construction, inspection, certification, and safety. Our expertise also includes dam siting, feasibility studies, and geological hazards.
