GROUNDWATER REMEDIATION OPERATIONS, MAINTENANCE AND MONITORING OM&M is often a substantial portion of overall cost to bring a site to closure with innovative, effective and efficient approaches to reduce these long-term costs. WSP is focused on bringing sites to closure and reducing long term remediation costs. The primary source of long-term cost to clients is remediation of groundwater using active or passive systems, and the associated monitoring for compliance with regulatory requirements. We use a comprehensive, multi-tiered approach to improve the operation of remedial systems and reduce costs via process optimization, regulatory negotiations and supply management. Our projects have ranged in size from major refineries, manufacturing plants, chemical plants, landfills and mines down to small dry cleaner and leaking underground storage tank sites. Key Services Long-term monitoring (LTM), data management and reporting Treatment system operation (on-site or remote) with licensed operators for active pump and treat systems, dual phase extraction systems, soil vapor systems and enhanced biological systems
Remedial process optimization (RPO) Bundled site supplier management Technology reviews, rebound evaluations and negotiated early system shutdowns
Areas of Expertise Optimizing LTM programs
Optimizing rates for plume capture Applying alternative technologies Seeking technical impracticality waivers when appropriate Using electronic tools/data management systems Conducting critical RPO reviews Providing incentives for contract operators to decrease annual costs and optimize remediation activity
Negotiating more favorable cleanup levels through fate and transport modeling and risk assessment
Utilizing procurement strategies Automating treatment functions
Improving treatment system chemistry Eliminating unnecessary processes Advocating source control measures to accelerate cleanup
