CASE STUDY: FEMA HOUSING INSPECTION SERVICES
WSP has supported FEMA continuously since 1995 as a prime vendor providing housing inspection services in the immediate aftermath of disasters. This covers five contracts, over 360 task orders, and over 7.2 million inspections across the US. Our ISO 9001:2015-certified team remains in a readiness state and capable of completing inspections immediately after notification of the disaster by FEMA. We deploy a team of staff and disaster housing inspectors to the disaster site upon notification by FEMA. Inspections are performed using handheld devices loaded with FEMA’s Automated Construction Estimating (ACE) software. Data is transmitted electronically to FEMA’s National Emergency Management Information System (NEMIS) for review by WSP and FEMA quality assurance staff to facilitate the rapid payment to homeowners and renters.

DEBRIS MANAGEMENT
WSP is a national leader in temporary power supply provision, whether supporting national contracts like the US Army Corps of Engineers, states like the South Carolina Emergency Management Division, or local jurisdictions like Fort Lauderdale.
When California and Florida, some of the biggest and most hazard-prone states in the country, need support to manage their logistics, they call WSP. With top-tier staff in-house and an unmatched depth of on-call partner resources, WSP is able to quickly set up logistics staging areas, staff Emergency Operations Centers, and manage points of distribution (PODs) quickly and effectively.
Effectively managing debris can be a disaster on its own, which is why communities across the nation trust WSP. For example, WSP supported CalRecycle with debris assessment and management for five counties, including 840 properties and over 25,000 hazard trees.
To support FEMA, WSP has developed and implemented
sophisticated software and business intelligence systems to assist over 7,000 inspectors, field operations managers and computer operations personnel in executing task order assignments, asset management and remote sensing efficiently, expediently, and cost effectively.
