Integrated Permitting Integrated Permitting is a process that identifies efficiencies from separate programs to best prioritize capital investments and achieve human health and water quality objectives. It’s a system for integrating environmental review with the review of project permits. This approach allows for a more holistic strategy to regulatory compliance, enabling communities to address their most pressing water quality problems while minimizing costs and maximizing cooperation. The concept of Integrated Permitting has gained considerable momentum in recent years, with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency promoting this approach since 2012. It’s particularly beneficial for municipalities as it provides greater regulatory flexibility and makes capital intensive infrastructure projects more viable.
