Our team coordinates stakeholder engagement and communications activities using a proven framework:

Discussions and Commenting: WSP gets involved to support our clients’ management of and engagement with key audiences. We provide coordination and communications as needed with our clients’ public information and communications staff to support interactions with local news media outlets and trade publications related to projects and the development of media advisories and news releases for distribution. We can determine opportunities and implement community outreach events, including pop-up meetings and open house public meetings and hearings, whether in-person or virtual. WSP can provide a variety of services related to managing discussions and commenting for projects: „ Project data collection and monitoring collaboratively with communities – We assist our clients with gathering crowd-sourced data collection, as well as community outreach for ongoing monitoring. „ Stakeholder surveys – We create opportunities to receive and analyze feedback from key audiences on critical community priorities. „ Social performance monitoring – We support our clients in the processes of measuring and evaluating how well we are meeting the established social goals.

Engagement and Communications Planning: We plan the work and then work the plan, developing upfront a clear understanding of project messaging, project informative materials and resources to be created to communicate the nature of a project’s scope, timing, and local impacts. We work collaboratively to align project milestones with stakeholder engagement activities. We develop key audiences contact lists of stakeholder groups in consultation with our clients and project partners. We identify the best ways to use social media channels and other web assets. Social Risk Assessment: As part of our planning, we work with the technical teams to devise a social risk assessment (SRA) through a process that identifies and analyzes the social, economic, and cultural factors that could impact a project. WSP’s goal in supporting this type of assessment is to build trust and transparency between a project and the local community. engagement and communications for each stakeholder group (e.g., brochures/fact sheets with FAQs, media releases/relations, e-mail/flyer marketing campaigns, presentations and public meeting materials including boards/exhibits).
