Model City TSDR Facility CWM Chemical Services | Model City, New York

WSP has been working for CWM Chemical Services, Inc. (CWM), at the Model City Treatment, Storage, Disposal, and Recovery (TSDR) facility since 1984. Specific construction related projects performed by WSP since that time have included base liner system and interim closure of Secure Landfill No. 12, interim closure of Lagoons 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7, and base liner construction of Cells 1 through 5 of Residuals Management Unit One. The major components of the CQA monitoring documentation included field data sheets for soils and geomembrane testing and monitoring, field monitors’ daily reports, laboratory data sheets, CQA engineer’s daily reports to the CWM project manager, weekly construction reports, and minutes of all formal meetings, including resolution, pre-construction, and weekly progress meetings. WSP then prepared a detailed Record Documentation Report.

Cal Compact Landfill Closure Republic Services | Carson, California Cal Compact is a 157-acre former landfill that operated from 1955 through 1968 accepting primarily municipal solid waste and some hazardous waste. Since closure, it has been capped and remedial systems have been installed to protect nearby residents and the environment. WSP operates the remedial systems that collects and treats LFG and other potentially harmful vapors as well as the ground water extraction and treatment system that prevents contaminants from migrating under adjacent residential neighborhoods. We also performed environmental monitoring mandated by various regulatory agencies, maintained the site’s enviromental permits, performed inspections and repairs to the closure cap, and prepared and submitted environmental compliance reports. This project also included a significant program management component. One leachate sample was collected for PFAS analysis from the primary leachate collection system.
